Wade Phillips might send message by being mean to the media

Wade Phillips’ Get Tough Plan is still being formed, but he shared some details with The Ticket’s Norm Hitzges during an appearance this morning.

First of all, Phillips has to deal with this bad rep he somehow got for being a jolly guy. Sounds like the warm, fuzzy press conferences have come to an end.

“I don’t think I’m as nice as what people think I am,” Phillips said. “And I think I can be less nice to the media maybe. Maybe I’ll start there.”

Yep, that’ll really get the players’ attention. And it’ll surely intimidate the evil media, halting all the criticism that has come Wade’s way.

Wade acknowledged that he’d lose the team if he suddenly became “a phony tough guy,” as Norm put it. Wade said he still won’t berate or demean players.

“You just make consequences for certain things that you didn’t have consequences for,” he said. “That’s what you do.”
