Former Cowboys defensive coordinator Brian Stewart has joined the staff of the Philadelphia Eagles, according to our friends over at the WFAA Sports Blog.
An announcement is expected this coming week. The hire makes sense, given the circumstances in Philadelphia. With Jim Johnson battling cancer, secondary coach Sean McDermott has become the Eagles’ acting defensive coordinator.
Stewart coached the secondary in San Diego before joining the Cowboys in 2007 as the defensive coordinator. He was fired in January. The Cowboys ranked eighth last season in total defense, but finished 20th in scoring defense.
